Days 1 and 2: Cottars 1920's Safari Camp,Maasai Mara
Your last morning in the Maasai Mara is a real highlight. An early morning (0500hrs) wake up call for a hot cup of coffee/tea and transfer to the launch site for our balloon safari and briefly watch the inflation of our balloon. At dawn we take off, rising as the sun rises and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take us. We fly at different altitudes; offering a unique "hawk's eye view" and great photographic opportunities of the awakening game-studded plains. After about one hours of flight, we land and we celebrate
After breakfast at your city hotel, you will be picked for a short drive to Nairobi's Wilson airport for your 1000hrs scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara. The Mara holds the greatest and most diverse concentration of wildlife remaining in Africa today.
It is home to the Maasai people and to small clans of Ndorobo, the traditional hunter-gatherers of East Africa. Recalling an era of luxury and sophistication, Cottar's 1920's Camp returns to the original spirit and essence of 'safari,' reminiscent
of a golden era - an era of romance, professional guiding, adventure and elegance, in a timelessly unspoiled setting with panoramic views and boundless game. Each day in the Mara will be dramatically different to the next, you may spend hours tracking rhino on foot with an Ndorobo tracker, day and night game drives, or sitting quietly for hours observing a typical day in the life of a pride of Mara lions, or let the circus antics of infant cheetah cubs bring tears of laughter to your eyes.
